The queens returned to the workroom after last week’s episode and there was instant drama! Roxxxy Andrews struggled with having to cut Gottmik, who seemed to take it better than she did. In fact, Mik said, “Roxxxy is the saddest front runner I’ve ever seen,” which was hilarious. Mik also took the chance to call out Roxxxy not knowing that she nearly cut Angeria Paris VanMichaels. She still claims she didn’t know. What do y’all think?
Anyway, it was a new day and after the queens reminded us to register to vote at vote.gov, this week’s mini-challenge was a straw poll, where they were asked questions about which queen would insert question here. The winner would not only get a donation to their charity but also a badge! Jorgeous won and landed her second badge.
For this week’s maxi-challenge, the queens would be roasting each other at the National Drag Convention. They would workshop their material with Michelle Visage and Ruta Lee. As the winner of the mini-challenge, Jorgeous made the order for the evening. The order would go Shannel, Jorgeous, Plastique Tiara, Roxxxy, Vanessa Vanjie Mateo, Angie, Mik, and then Nina West closing the show.
The queens then went to run their material with Michelle and Ruta, who I was so excited to see on Drag Race! Vanjie’s critiques were to slow down so we could understand her better, but let’s face it, anything and everything she says is hilarious. Meanwhile, Michelle and Ruta gave Angie a wonderful pep talk that she needed after being cut so much this season. You could see her confidence shift. Jorgeous and Plastique both wanted to play a character, with Jorgeous taking Ru’s advice to bring something butch to the table.
It was roast day! The queens would be roasting one another in front of Ru, Michelle, Ruta, and Carson Kressley. The category on the runway was atomic blondes.
First up was the roast. We got a beautiful surprise of Bob the Drag Queen opening the show. Shannel was funny, but was anyone else so proud of Jorgeous for her comedy? She finally leaned into her comedy and made people laugh! I loved Plastique smoking a cigarette dressed as Sailor Moon. She did great! Another queen I was proud of was Roxxxy, who is notoriously not great at comedy. She killed it! As for Vanjie, I have no words. There’s all this talk of queens having their material written for them by professionals, but I think it is clear Vanjie wrote jokes only she could come up with. Angie was incredible, zero notes. Mik was going through it this episode, but still did well. Nina also did well closing the show.
For the runway, I loved Shannel, Plastique, Angie, and Mik’s looks but everyone looked great! The top two all-stars of the week were Angie and Plastique! They faced off to Be My Lover by La Bouche. For some reason, Plastique didn’t lip sync some of the words again this week. The performance was still really fun! Angie won it, and she chose to snip Roxxxy!
