The queens returned to the work room after Roxxxy Andrews won her 4th badge and snipped Angeria Paris VanMichaels for the last time. This was the last week of the ruby snippers. Vanessa “Vanjie” Mateo thought there might be another twist a brewin’.
RuPaul entered to share that this week’s maxi-challenge was the Rusical. This one is called Rosemarie’s Baby Shower. They would be picking their own roles, recording their songs with the help of Michelle Visage, and practicing choreo. Oh, and that twist Vanjie thought was coming did indeed come. Each top two queen would be getting two badges – one to keep and one to give away!
Gottmik was so excited for the Rusical. The horror genre has been big in the queer community. Dividing up the roles was easy until Angie and Nina West wanted the same role. Vanjie tried to consult the spirits, but in the end, Jorgeous drew the name from a hat and the role went to Nina.
When it came time for them to record their vocals, Nina was of course the best. Like Angie said, “she does Broadway every week!” I loved watching Jorgeous hit her notes and having all the queens going crazy on the sidelines for her. I love this group! Plastique Tiara’s performance was wild. While Roxxxy was recording her part, in an intense growling voice, Angie fell asleep. Vanjie thought she was going to be a one take performance but kept saying “when you get to know me” instead of “once you get to know me.” Of course, it was funny.
After the recording, the queens went to record choreo with Miguel Zårate. Vanjie had an easier time with this part. Nina struggled with the moves, but she wasn’t alone. Roxxxy said it best, “He’s not giving us drag queen choreography, he’s giving us Beyoncé backup dancer choreo.”
On the runway, Ru was joined by Michelle, TS Madison, and Kristine W. Can we talk about this Rusical? From Mik’s spinning wing to Roxxxy’s Pennywise, it was wild. Jorgeous doing the Megan dance? These three were the highlights for me. It was so good!
On the runway, the category was Bring Back my Pearls.. Shannel looked amazing, as did Gottmik and Plastique. In the end, Jorgeous and Shannel were the top two All-Stars of the week! Everyone was so excited for Shannel, who had never won a challenge or performed in a Rusical! It was so cool to see.
The two performed to Love Come Home by Kristine W. It was such a fun performance that RuPaul called it a tie! They were both getting donations to their charities! When it came time to hand out their extra badges, Jorgeous gave hers to Shannel, and Shannel gave her to Jorgeous! What a fun little exchange.
