After a busy weekend at RuPaul’s DragCon, I could relate to the All-Stars queens returning to the workroom chanting, “we love drag! We love drag!” However, there wasn’t much time to reflect on loving drag because there was instantly a twist.
There was a box on the table that had fun, party-game like questions in it for the queens to raise more money for their charities. Nina West had to do impressions of three queens, Angeria Paris VanMichaels had to do a death drop, Gottmik had to read Shannel in the style of Michelle Visage, and Shannel had to… scurry around like a squirrel?
RuPaul came into the workroom to tell the queens about what their final mini-challenge would be. The queens would be transforming a hardworking crew member into a Ru girl – with quick drag of course. It was so cute to see them work with the crew members they have spent so much time with. I loved learning about their relationships with the cast and their time on the show. The transformations were incredible.
It was time to get ready for the final challenge, which includes a variety show, a Tic Tac lunch, and a twist RuPaul left them hanging with, and the winners of this week’s challenge were going to win not one, not two, but THREE badges.
The Tic Tac lunches allowed each queen to reflect on their time on the show and why they picked the charities they did. It was wonderful to see them being honest and vulnerable with Ru. While it was all nice and moving, my favorite part was when Vanessa Vanjie Matteo broke the footrest under her seat during lunch.
In the midst of the Tic Tac lunches and practice for the upcoming variety show, Mik shared that she has a crush on Vanjie, and Vanjie said Mik might be her “long-lost soulmate.” I love this for them.
Then, TS Madison came on the screen in the workroom and shared that there’s such a thing as a “double diamond,” where the queens will vote for a queen to double their amount of badges! The winner will not be announced until all badges have been distributed at the end of the variety show, and no, the queens could not vote for themselves. Oh, y’all wanted a TWIST?
The episode wrapped up with the queens casting their votes for the double diamond award. Did you think we were going to see the variety show today? Well, you were mistaken! You’ll have to tune in next week!
