RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 9 has come to a close! Even the cast were sad to have it end, but we’ll get to that later. Let’s catch up on how the season wrapped up, shall we?
Before we could get into drag, we all fell out of a coconut tree with Kamala Harris, Michelle Visage, and random celebrities like Lance Bass and Leslie Jones? Couldn’t tell ya why they were there but I’m not complaining! Please remember to vote in November, American friends. Our rights depend on it.
It was a new day in the workroom and everyone was crying. The cast clearly grew close going through the whole season together. Poor Gottmik and Jorgeous were in shambles! It was sweet, honestly. As they were crying and getting into drag, all the queens shared that they were feeling the most confident going into this final challenge, which makes sense. They felt the most at ease for the talent show because they do what they do well!
While they were getting ready, someone walked in the workroom, which prompted Jorgeous to say “who’s that OMG?!” and that would have been my same response because it was Kylie Sonique Love and I would have been starstruck as well. Shannel shared that Kylie is her favorite drag entertainer and I felt that. She is so amazing. She wasn’t alone, however. She pulled an iPad out of her ass, her words, and it was Jimbo! She was on tour in the UK so she spoke with them virtually. I’ll take all the Jimbo content I can get.
Before the finale, the queens started doing the math. There’s this whole double diamond thing, but regardless, Roxxxy Andrews should for sure make it to the top three, and anyone else could be joining her!
On the main stage, Ru was joined by Michelle, Ross Mathews, and Connie Britton.
First up was Angeria Paris VanMichaels. Her performance was cute and well-done! She had Ru laughing, which is the biggest stamp of approval. Mik was next, and she performed a fun original song called So Gorge. She even played the guitar! I thought it was fun. Then came Jorgeous. I have no words for that performance. She choreographed the whole thing, and that move? You know the one. No words. Obsessed!
Plastique Tiara was next. Her entrance outfit was amazing, and her performance was so unique. Loved it. Nina West did what she does best, musical theater. I loved her human dress. Roxxxy did a great burlesque number. Shannel brought a bit of Vegas to the main stage with an incredible juggling act. She juggled KNIVES! Vanessa Vanjie Matteo closed the show with the most insane performance about leotards targeted at Michelle. It was incredible. I’ll watch it 14 more times.
For the runway, everyone looked perfect. I have zero notes. Everyone brought their absolute best to the final runway. I was a bit speechless, I must say.
In case you forgot, the queens voted for the double diamond title. That queen would get their badges doubled. The top queens that Ru picked from the talent show would also get multiple badges. You can’t make me do math. I refuse.
So here’s how it all went down. Angie and Vanjie were the top two All-Stars of the week. They each won two badges. To quote Vanjie, “I’m trying to do the math, girl.” Well, we had to, because then it was revealed that Nina got her badge number doubled, but it wasn’t enough to bring her to the final three. No fear for the others, though. They all got an extra $5,000 for their charity!
That means Vanjie, Roxxxy, and Angie were the top 3! The three each performed a single lip-sync. All three were amazing, and I was happy to not be in RuPaul’s chair. Picking between ALL of these queens through this entire season would have been entirely too much. I loved them all.
In the end, it was Angie who took home the crown, and I thought she was so deserving of it! Of course, it would have been amazing to see Roxxxy or Vanjie win, too, but Angie was so strong all season.
