With RuPaul’s Drag Race Global All Stars, the Drag Race franchise has definitively showcased that it truly has complete global dominance. Now, a brand new locale has been announced for the Drag Race franchise and the brand new queens that are part of this inaugural cast are sure to be some of the most charismatic, talented and dynamic the world has ever seen; Welcome Drag Race South Africa to the Drag Race family!
This brand new international iteration is a long time coming, with RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 1 winner Bebe Zahara Benet coming from Cameroon and making her pride in her Central African a focal point of her own 2009 Drag Race journey. The upcoming inaugural season of Drag Race South Africa will be available to fans globally on WOW Presents Plus, with casting to begin in 2025.
World of Wonder co-founders Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato are equally excited about the brand new franchise, saying: “”We have seen a host of gorgeous, talented queens hailing from across Africa grace the runway over the years, so now it’s time for a unique version from South Africa that includes the incredible talent the continent has to offer.
