When six Drag Race alumni head to a snow filled locale, it is essential to bring along two queens who are familiar with chilly destinations. BOA and Jada Shada Hudson are both alumni of Canada’s Drag Race and are now joining several other dynamic Drag Race queens on Slaycation (a CRAVE original, premiering Tuesday December 31st on WOW Presents Plus)! I sat down with both of them recently to chat about vacationing with fellow Drag Race alumni and how this experience might have changed their own relationship.
Michael Cook: You both are Canada’s Drag Race alumni and are now taking up residence together on Slaycation! In one of the sneak peeks of what’s to come this season, we got to see Jada planning some snowmen building! Tell me, are either of you expert snowmen builders?
BOA: I used to be a big snow queen, but not anymore! So I do have some experience, but it was nice to jump back into it.
Jada: I don’t have much experience around snow, but I would definitely like to make the perfect man one of these days for sure!
MC: We got a hint of tension between the two of you initially as you entered the Slaycation house; what was it like living together after knowing each other in the industry for quite some time?
JSH: Well the good thing for me is that I didn’t have to share a room with any of the queens! They put Mother Jada in the basement which was not too bad to be honest. I got to know that a lot of these girls habits and their eating habits are so basic. Luxx (Noir London) is not really an adventurous type eater. I don’t mind getting seafood and a lot of kinds of meats and everything, a lot of those girls are like, chicken fingers or very basic eating habits.
BOA: What I learned from these girls is that they are chaotic (laughs)! It can be very chaotic to have roommates, that is for sure.
MC: We get a sneak peek of all of the queens arrivals and your initial interaction was a bit prickly at best. How did you navigate moving forward throughout the show and how are you moving forward post-Slaycation?
JSH: I think we’re still navigating. The place is there. We see it, we feel it, and we’re getting closer.
BOA: We see the place. Take the stick out of Jada’s ass and we had to use it to lead the way (laughs)!
MC: Seeing girls from so many different Drag Race franchises was very interesting to see combined in one house. What other queens were you intrigued to live with for Slaycation?
BOA: Lawrence Chaney! One hundred percent Lawrence Chaney. We were actually acquaintances, we actually met on a Facebook group like ten years ago. We would chat here and there and it was really good to see people’s journey through drag and everything and to see her win Drag Race UK, that was amazing. To see that I was going to share this time with her was so exciting and I was so happy about it.
JSH: I would say Kandy (Muse). I knew Kandy from her season, even before she was on Drag Race. We had partied a lot together, she frequents Toronto, and when I used to go to Los Angeles and DragCon & all of these other things. I knew Kandy was my kind of girl, I’m known as the Toronto turn-up queen, im a fun, party girl; the late night diva! Kandy for sure, her and I together!
MC: If you were to go on another Slaycation with some Drag Race sisters, what destination would you want to try next?
JSH: Someplace warm! It could be the Caribbean, it could be Latin America.
BOA: Somewhere luxurious. And I want to do adventure type things also. I want to go swimming with sharks, I want to go zip lining!
“Slaycation” premieres on WOW Presents Plus on Tuesday, December 31.
