RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 17 kicked off last Friday, and we have a brand new cast of fourteen dolls to fall in love with throughout the season. We have already gotten to see what half of them are bringing to the competition, while in this week’s episode, we will get to see what the remaining queens have up their sleeves. As for the competition itself, the twists this season are truly changing up the game in the best way possible. From returning twists like Rate-A-Queen to the brand new Badonka Dunk Tank (involving Michelle Visage!), Drag Race is once again, changing up the game for Season 17.
As the brand new season premiered, I got to sit down with the brand new cast of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 17 to dish about the season to come and the each gave me exclusive (and sometimes emotional) tea on what they’ve learned from their fellow Season 17 sisters. First up, Lydia Collins dished with me about the Pittsburgh impact on her drag career, Suzie Toot dished with me about making herself stand out in South Florida and Lexi Love detailed how being a playmate at Play Louisville influenced her Drag Race experience.
Onya Nurve and I dished about her BFA in Painting from the Cleveland Institute of Art, Joella and I chatted about the continued Asian excellence we’ve been seeing on the RuPaul’s Drag Race franchises, and Kori King chatted about her gritty Boston influences and how it helps her in the competition.
Sam Starr had tea to spill on what she truly “can’t do”, Arietty dished on the Irene DuBois effect, Lana Ja’Rae described the moment her drag mother Luxx Noir London first saw her, and Acacia Forgot chatted about the multitude of instruments she is able to play!
Jewels Sparkles detailed how the Tampa drag community helped her in her Drag Race journey, Crystal Envy detailed how the Asbury Park and Paradise community helped her grow into the queen she is, and Hormona Lisa let me know who truly influences her from the silver screen.
