Hey, besties! We’re back with another new episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race, but before we start yapping about queens, I want to extend my heartfelt wishes to all of you impacted by the fires in Southern California. I’m in the city, too, and am here for you through all of this!
OK, enough with all that nice stuff. We’re back in the work room following the first Rate-A-Queen episode. Acacia Forgot was disappointed she was in the bottom although she was the only one brave enough to sing their original song live. Susie Toots celebrated her victory, and the week two talent performers began prepping their numbers. Meanwhile, the week one performers were thrilled to be on the opposite side of Rate-A-Queen.
This week, Crystal Envy, Hormona Lisa, Kori King, Lana Ja’Rea, Lexi Love, Onya Nurve, and Sam Star would be hitting the stage, while Acacia, Susie, Arrietty, Jewels Sparkles, Joella, Lucky Starzzz, and Lydia B. Kollins were playing judges.
In the middle of the queens preparing for the challenge, Lawrence Chaney made an appearance! She was giving the queens a nice comedic break and announced the theme of the runway – is it cake?
While the queens were getting ready, Acacia was asked who she wanted to lip-sync against tonight. She said Acacia, who got to say one more time that RuPaul hand selected her to be on the show, so voting against Hormona is going against Ru herself. I feel this will be a theme throughout the season.
It was time for the final group to take on the talent show, but first, it was runway time! On the mainstage, Ru was joined by Michelle Visage, TS Madison, and Doechii. In case you forgot, the category is is it cake?
I will say, this was not my favorite runway. There were two Marie Antoinettes, and a few queens who missed the runway theme I thought. Lexi’s look was so unique and creative. I thought Lydia looked beautiful. Susie, however, was the one for me. I love a girl who makes silly goofy runway decisions.
First up for the talent show was Sam, who did a lip sync number to an original country pop song. It was cute! Then came Onya, who performed an original song and dance. I loved it! You wouldn’t believe it, but Crystal did a lipsync to an original song. She brought a lot of impressive moves to the stage, though! Hormona was next, and she did stand up comedy. I’ll save my thoughts on that!
Kori was next, and I think you can guess what she did. Her song and performance were fun! Lana brought her drag mom Luxx Noir London into her performance, having her record her voice at the beginning of her song, paired with a cardboard mask of her face. It was cute! Closing out the show was Lexi on ROLLER SKATES! I was already obsessed with her, but seeing her do something so creative on the main stage really solidified it for me. SO GOOD!
It was time for the Rate-A-Queen results! Lexi and Crystal were the top two queens of the week, and they faced off to Alter Ego by Doechii. This was SUCH a fun performance. They both did so well, but it was Lexi who took home the victory.
The rest of the queens returned to the stage to hear their final judgements. Sam, Onya, Lana, and Kori were safe, while Hormona fell into the bottom two and was to lip sync against Acacia.
The bottom two performed Yes, And? by Ariana Grande for their lives. Acacia was the clear winner for me, and for RuPaul, too. However, Hormona wasn’t eliminated just yet. She got another chance to stay in the competition via the Badonka Dunk Tank. Yes, it is exactly what it sounds like. She would pull one of ten levers and if Michelle gets dunked, she gets to stay. She got lucky and dunked her. So, Hormona got to stay.
Was that how you thought the episode was going to end? Me neither! Oh yeah, and this will continue for future eliminated queens. Cheers to another endless season!
