The Vivienne was the first RuPaul’s Drag Race UK winner, an actor, and in short, a complete and total force of nature. The British drag superstar passed away in January, and now the producing team behind RuPaul’s Drag Race are paying homage to one of their All Stars in a wonderful way. World of Wonder is producing Dear Viv, a documentary on the drag superstar that will air later this year on WOW Presents Plus.

The documentary will “trace Williams’ journey from humble beginnings in North Wales to their meteoric rise on RuPaul’s Drag Race UK” (per Deadline). The project is being produced by World of Wonder with the blessing of Williams’ friends and and family and will feature interviews with loved ones and Drag Race contestants and close friends Baga Chipz, Michael Marouli and Danny Beard. A particularly heartwarming addition of the project is going to be excerpts of personal letters from the Vivienne’s legion of fans. On Instagram, Danny Beard posted a clip showcasing some behind the scenes footage of the upcoming documentary showing him speaking to the camera for the documentary.
Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey, Co-Founders of World of Wonder and Executive Producers of the film told Deadline “We want to celebrate The Vivienne’s extraordinary life and work so everyone can experience her incredible talent, sass and enormous heart”
“Although her stay here on Earth was far too brief, it is with tremendous admiration and affection that we share her legacy in Dear Viv.”
