New week, new bracket! We were (re) introduced to the queens of the purple bracket: Denali, Daya Betty, Ginger Minj, Acid Betty, Cynthia Lee Fontain, and Alyssa Hunter. Who from this bracket will join Bosco, Aja, Irene The Alien, Lydia B. Kollins, Jorgeous, and Mistress Isabelle Brooks?

This week’s maxi-challenge was inspired by Wicked. The queens would be working in pairs: one would create a good queen look, while the other would make a wicked queen look. Oh, yeah, and they had to create their own backstory. The judges were looking for original designs, not Wicked rip-offs, by the way.

The queens arrived to the work room where they broke off into teams of two. I was extremely distracted by whatever fursona Acid was bringing to the table. Alyssa wanted to pair up with Daya, but she wanted to work with Acid (no relation between the Bettys, by the way). The pairs ended up being Denali and Acid, Alyssa and Cynthia, and Daya and Ginger.

Ginger and Daya were confident they would work well together. Ginger is great at making stories, and Daya has the designing vision. Alyssa and Cynthia were in a similar situation, with Alyssa having a background in making her own costumes for dance when she was growing up. Acid had too many ideas for their backstory, leaving Denali feeling overwhelmed.

RuPaul came in to talk to the queens and first checked in with Cynthia following her health problems. Thankfully, she is 7 years in remission for liver cancer, and recovering well from a hip replacement and lower back surgery. So happy for her!

Before the queens got into crafting their looks, they got a special video message from Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, announcing that they would be the guest judges this week!

Denali and Acid were still struggling with their backstory as they began working on their outfits. Meanwhile, Daya was pushing Ginger out of her comfort zone and helping her construct her outfit. In the middle of the designing process, the conversation of alliances came up. No one from this bracket was ready to take a stance on the topic just yet.

As the queens were preparing for the main stage, Ariana and Cynthia surprised them. This was a huge moment for Denali, who said multiple times that she loves being homosexual. I think everyone was crying at some point. I’m not sure any other guest judges have received this type of reaction from the contestants!

It was time for the pairs to hit the main stage in front of Ru, Michelle Visage, Law Roach, Cynthia, and Ariana. Ginger and Daya had a solid storyline with good looks, Cynthia and Alyssa had a wild storyline, which was fun. I loved Denali’s look, and their story was good!

The top 2 queens of the week were Ginger and Daya. They faced off to Defying Gravity from the original cast of Wicked! It was a great performance, and I loved what each queen brought to the stage. In the end, Ginger won, snagging the extra point.

For those keeping score, Ginger has 3 points, Daya has 2, and everyone else is sitting at zero for now. We’ll see how that score changes next week when they hand out their extra MVQ points. I can’t wait to see how this turns out!

So, what were your thoughts on our final bracket? Let us know in the comments below!
