This week’s BOP OF THE WEEK is Happy Ending by drag star and 2022 Entertainer of the Year Shontelle Sparkles. Happy Ending and her complete EP, Butterfly Effect, is available on Apple Music and other platforms.
I got to speak with Shontelle about what went into this album.
“This album is a reflection of my life’s journey, which you can really hear through the lyrics. I wanted to highlight that my artistry extends beyond makeup and wigs — music has always been a fundamental part of who I am. Before I began doing drag, I worked as a DJ and singer, but I stepped away from that path because I didn’t believe I could successfully merge the two worlds. The Butterfly Effect represents me reclaiming that dream and fully realizing it as both a drag artist and musician.”
