A Haute Second with Spencer: The Grammys 2019

Hello my friends! Welcome back to our FIFTH Grammys edition of “A Haute Second with Spencer” ! I can’t even believe it’s been this long. Thank you to those of you who have supported this column since the very beginning!

We are here as always to break down the most sickening looks of the Grammys red carpet. I won’t lie, this wasn’t the best red carpet we have ever witnessed. However, there were still a few shining moments! Let’s get into them, shall we?

Camila Cabello

Camila Cabello was the first one to step on the red carpet and really set the mood for the evening. I love this sparkly pink color! It look’s incredible on her. Congrats Camila!

Bebe Rexha wearing Monsoori

After calling out the fashion industry for a few designers not wanting to dress Bebe Rexha, Bebe appeared in a stunning red ball gown! She looks amazing! Is this my favorite dress? No. But she still looks incredible. I just wish the volume of the gown was a little, She kind of gets swallowed up in the dress.

Miley Cyrus wearing Mugler

Oh wow, Miley Cyrus looks freaking good! I am so happy about this. Miley has gone through such a fashion transformation throughout the years, it’s insane! I think this is one of my favorite Miley Cyrus looks probably ever! Miley I love you!!!

Dolly Parton

The Grammys were graced by an actual GOD this year, Dolly Parton is a legend and I just… I just love her! This dress is so typical Dolly fashion and I am so here for it. Currently at the Grammys Museum in Downtown Los Angeles, there is a Dolly Parton costume exhibition that I wrote an article about last week. Go check it out!

Chloe X Halle

I love these fashion queens, Chloe X Halle ! The sisters wore similar but different dresses that perfectly complimented each other with the fabric in the top. This is such a cool coordination and they both look great!

Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa just did that! I love this dress. It’s simple, form fitting, and appropriate. Her hair is laid perfectly and those jewels are fierce. Welcome to the game Dua Lipa, because you are killing it!

Tracee Ellis Ross

I LOVE this suit on Tracee Ellis Ross! It fits absolutely perfectly! But that snake across her waist, that is fierce. I love it. Tracee always looks amazing, especially in a power suit. GET IT!

Jorja Smith

I love Jorja Smith! This gold dress looks so cool on her! It fits her really well. i feel like the hem is a little awkward. It feels like it needs to be a little shorter or longer. Her face is seriously stunning! It’s fitting that she is wearing gold because she looks amazing!

Andra Day

Andra Day is seriously a fashion icon! I love every single one of her looks and this one might be my favorite. The color on her is to die for. The feathers, the nails, the HAIR! This look deserves more recognition then what was given.

H.E.R. wearing Coach

H.E.R. killed that red carpet! In reality, this jumpsuit is so simple but she makes this look so expensive and red carpet worthy! I am obsessed with this. She is here and ready to grab her Grammy so you better get the hell out of her way.

Alicia Keys

The host with the most, Alica Keys killed it on the red carpet as she did on stage. I love this look. It’s simple but she looks stunning. I wish the dress was maybe white instead of red because of the carpet but either way, she looks amazing.

Kacey Musgraves wearing Valentino

Yay! I was so excited to see Kacey Musgraves. I want to love this dress but I’ll be honest it’s not what I was hoping for. It is soooo close! I just want to grab some scissors and trim the bodice. All of that fabric extending to her arms is so distracting. But if you imagine the dress on her without that extra fabric, it looks amazing. Either way, I love Kacey. Congrats on the Grammy win!

Lady Gaga wearing Hedi Slimane

Wow! I don’t even know what to say. Lady Gaga is just perfect. I love this dress on her. I also love her hair like this, it is just so cool. Mother Monster is just really glowing right now and I am so here for it. She won some Grammys, next up the Oscars!

Jennifer Lopez wearing Ralph & Russo

Jennifer Lopez was in the building and she looked amazing! Does she not age, like at all? My favorite part of this was the neck that flows into that awesome hat. I wish the hem was seriously an inch longer but that’s okay. All hail, J-Lo!

Cardi B wearing Mugler

So, Cardi B is wearing archive THIERRY MUGLER. I just… Girl, this is amazing. Bringing this gown back to life was such a cool move by Cardi’s part and I love her for it. Congrats on the well-deserved Grammy win!

St. Vincent wearing Giambattista Valli Couture

This Giambattista Valli Couture gown is so dope! St.Vincent looks so regal and I LOVE her hair. This look deserves an award just on it’s own.

Well that red carpet was actually better than I initially thought. Congratulations to everyone I mentioned above. As an honorable mention, I would like to shout out Michelle Obama who made a surprise appearance on stage! If only you were on the red carpet!

Okay now, it’s time to pick my top three. This is kind of hard and I am a little nervous. Hold my hand won’t you?

Okay so I picked Lady gaga (of course), Dua Lipa, and Miley Cyrus as my top three. This years red carpet had a lot of extra stuff going on and each of these three ladies looked flawless!

Disagree with me, well then vote in the poll below, damn it! It’s your turn to pick YOUR favorite. The winner will be nominated for the 2019 WERRRK.com Year-End awards.

Thank you all for reading along. I had so much fun! In just a few short weeks, we Ill be breaking down the Oscars red carpet. You will NOT want to miss that! Until then, have a fabulous February everyone.
