We are so excited about being a part of this amazing event this year and we cannot wait to bring you all the fabulous drag artists that are going to be headlining this year!

We are very excited to announce that Kitty Buick will be headlining the Austin International Drag Festival this year! (Get your tickets here and join us in Austin this fall!)

Congratulations on being named a headliner Kitty! How did you get involved with the Austin International Drag Festival and what do you bring to this role?

I first became involved with AIDF as a member of Austin’s favorite drag group, Poo Poo Platter.  I am super excited to participate in the Festival this year and get to meet so many people I’ve only spoken to online, as well as getting to convey one facet of Austin’s diverse drag scene to the international guests attending the festival.

For those people living under a rock, can you tell us a little bit about Kitty Buick’s style of drag?

My drag is really inspired by classic films and vintage iconography, with a lil shot of pop culture to keep the blood moving!  I was so overjoyed to move to Texas; the Hollywood Western look is a particular favorite and I’m glad to be a Rhinestone Cowgirl here.   It is a really fun challenge to take my aesthetic and make it work with modern music, finding themes and lyrics that are relevant together.  I recently got inspired to move into a burlesque direction with my drag, but we all know that’s just so I can showcase multiple layers of handmade designs to my audience!!!

We can’t wait to see what you are planning on bringing to the stage in Austin! Can you give the us a little tease of what’s to come this fall in Texas?

I can’t give away all of what I’m cooking up, but let me tell you it will include a spicy stop in FlavorTown!  Holy Stromboli, Batman!
