Austin International Drag Festival Headliner Announcement: Freddy Prinze Charming has proudly partnered up with the Austin International Drag Festival this year and we have been given the privilege of announcing this year’s headliners first! We are so excited about being a part of this amazing event this year and we cannot wait to bring you all the fabulous drag artists that are going to be headlining this year!

Our next headliner is a drag artist from the Valley of the Sun, Phoenix Arizona! We are super excited to announce that Freddy Prinze Charming will be headlining the Austin International Drag Festival this year! (Get your tickets here and join us in Austin this fall!)

We were able to get a few words with Freddy about being part of this year’s Austin International Drag Festival!

Congratulations on being named a headliner Freddy! How did you get involved with the Austin International Drag Festival and what does this opportunity mean to you?

I got involved with AIDF for the first time two years ago. I decided to apply, on a whim, and it was the first time I’d ever attended anything that size, out of town, completely on my own. It was challenging for this introvert, but I loved every minute of it! I got to meet some amazing people, and consider many of the folks I met that first year my friends. Being asked to headline this year is so exciting! I love being able to bring my brand of drag to the stage at such a large gathering of other incredible drag artists. And I’m doubly excited because this year I get to share the experience with all my drag kids!

For those people living under a rock, can you tell us a little bit about Freddy Prinze Charming and your drag?

I’ve been entertaining audiences as Freddy since 2005, but I grew up in musical theatre. I’m the most decorated king in Arizona, and have been privileged to have garnered more than three dozen awards and accolades, including several titles, both local and state. In March I was fortunate enough to have won the national title of Mister USofA MI Classic 2019. I like to think of myself as a theatrical performer. I love costumes, and makeup, and drama, and I try to incorporate all those things into my performances. I’ve been known to walk the line between masculine and feminine, even incorporating some aspects of a bearded queen look on occasion.

We can’t wait to see what you’re planning on bringing to the stage in Austin! Can you give the WERRRK .com universe a little tease of what’s to come this fall in Texas?

What I’m bringing this fall is a surprise! (Even to me! HA!) All I know is that I’m going to do my best to bring some awesome entertainment!
