Austin International Drag Festival Headliner Announcement: Max Ryder

WERRRK.com has proudly partnered up with the Austin International Drag Festival this year and we have been given the privilege of announcing this year’s headliners first! We are so excited about being a part of this amazing event this year and we cannot wait to bring you all the fabulous drag artists that are going to be headlining this year!

We are very excited to announce that Max Ryder will be headlining the Austin International Drag Festival this year! (Get your tickets here and join us in Austin this fall!)

Congratulations Max on being named a headliner! How did you get involved with the Austin International Drag Festival and what does this opportunity mean to you?

This festival gives me the opportunity to show where I am now since the accident after the last Austin International Drag Festival 2018. It’s been a long journey and still fighting. This opportunity not only validates my drag style but also pushes me to keep going for others.

For those people living under a rock, can you tell us a little bit about Max Ryder and your drag?

This UK drag king has been found to show himself to the world whether it be in fetish fashion catwalks, online drag competitions, UK drag competitions or in shows around USA and UK. Even TikTok. His style forms from being a drag king of the dark, Transformation Drag, Drag with a Message and anything else he wants. Unfortunately during his first visit to America last year it was cut short due to a horrific car collision along with his drag companion, Hugh Johnson. Sadly his companion will be unable to attend. In aid of this, Max has vowed to donate a large portion of earnings to help aid Hugh’s recovery. 90% in fact!

We can’t wait to see what you’re planning on bringing to the stage in Austin! Can you give the WERRRK .com universe a little tease of what’s to come this fall in Texas?

This will be my first time returning to the stage since the beginning of my recovery journey. This time I’ll be bringing someone old, someone new, someone borrowed and someone I believed I would never do in drag…but what could it be…?
