WERRRK.com has proudly partnered up with the Austin International Drag Festival this year and we have been given the privilege of announcing this year’s headliners first! We are so excited about being a part of this amazing event this year and we cannot wait to bring you all the fabulous drag artists that are going to be headlining this year!
Our next headliner is taking some time away from Camp Wannakiki to come to this year’s Festival! We are very excited to announce that Miss Kitty Litter ATX will be headlining the Austin International Drag Festival this year! (Get your tickets here and join us in Austin this fall!)
Congratulations on being named a headliner Miss Kitty! How did you get involved with the Austin International Drag Festival and what does this opportunity mean to you?
I became involved with the Austin International Drag Festival through knowing the Festival Organizers, and hearing about what a positive experience it had been for those who had attended and or performed. That made me want to be a part of what was going on. AIDF has become one of the World’s largest Drag Festivals, and the fact that it is an inclusive, safe and friendly space for people to share their art made it a “must go” for me, and I have been involved with it for several years now.
For those people living under a rock, can you tell us a little bit about Miss Kitty and your drag?
For those living under a rock, I am quite surprised if you have not heard of me, for that is my normal dwelling place, as I am all about damp and dark spaces. Miss Kitty Litter ATX was born a very, very long time ago (carbon dating proves this) and was inspired during the time of the AIDS crisis when the Government was not forthcoming with funds for people in need. Initially, my character, an older Southern Belle (like the Liberty bell, slightly cracked and a bit rusty) would do Campy fun songs to raise money for charity. It has been a 30 year career, and now am a cast member on Season Two of Camp Wannnakiki, as well as hosting and performing in many shows throughout Texas and the U.S..
We can’t wait to see what you’re planning on bringing to the stage in Austin! Can you give the WERRRK .com universe a little tease of what’s to come this fall in Texas?
I am VERY excited about performing in this years Festival. It is a unique opportunity for networking, friendship and the opportunity to share what I do with the World. I traditionally have done a bit of standup comedy, as opposed to lip synchs to pop songs because I am old and senile and can’t remember the words, but that hasn’t stopped others…so perhaps this year will branch out into a full on Production Number. And of course many of the cast members from Camp Wannakiki will be on hand as well so there will definitely be a Kiki going on, and I hope to get to see some old friends and make some new ones at this Event. Thank you to AIDF as well as WERRRK for this amazing opportunity, and to all you fans out there, can’t wait to see you!. Big love from the Catbox…
