Austin International Drag Festival Headliner Announcement: Vegas Van Cartier

WERRRK.com has proudly partnered up with the Austin International Drag Festival this year and we have been given the privilege of announcing this year’s headliners first! We are so excited about being a part of this amazing event this year and we cannot wait to bring you all the fabulous drag artists that are going to be headlining this year!

We are very excited to announce that Vegas Van Cartier will be headlining the Austin International Drag Festival this year! (Get your tickets here and join us in Austin this fall!)

Congratulations Vegas on being named a headliner! How did you get involved with the Austin International Drag Festival and what does this opportunity mean to you?

I got involved with the Austin International Drag Festival about four or five years ago when I hosted an event during the festival at Club Heaven. My Drag Daughter Alexandria Van Cartier is on the Board, and inspired me to become a headliner after capturing the title of Miss Gay Texas USofA At Large 2019. Being a part of the festival means not only do I get the chance to showcase my art to others from around the world, but get to meet performers that share a love or performing, and get to experience different types of performance art from around the world.

For those people living under a rock, can you tell us a little bit about Vegas Van Cartier and your drag?

I’ve been doing drag for ten plus years and have captured titles like Austin’s Next Drag Superstar, Miss Austin Sweetheart, Miss Austin Entertainer of the Year, Miss Austin Pride, Queen of the Silver Screen, Miss Tri-States USofA Newcomer, Miss Colorado USofA Newcomer, and Miss Gay Texas USofA At Large. I’m a “Pageant Queen” and very proud to be. My drag is OPULENCE, Classy, sexy, and a little comedy all wrapped one.

We can’t wait to see what you’re planning on bringing to the stage in Austin! Can you give the WERRRK .com universe a little tease of what’s to come this fall in Texas?

What’s to be expected from me during the festival is Big Texas Hair, Sparkly costumes, big jewelry, feathers, beads, rhinestones…. everything is BIGGER in Texas!
