FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WERRRK.com to present Winter WerrrkFest digital show to benefit the Transgender Law Center
December 2nd, 2020 (New York, NY) – WERRRK.com announced today that they will be hosting a digital holiday special, Winter WerrrkFest, via their YouTube channel, WERRRK.tv, on Sunday, December 13th. Proceeds from the special will benefit the Transgender Law Center and will feature over twenty amazing performances from drag artists, as well other queer and queer-friendly entertainers. The event is the first endeavor of WERRRK.com’s new charitable wing, WERRRK for Change.
The show will stream live for free but there is a suggested donation of $10. WERRRK’s YouTube channel, which launched in conjunction with the site in 2014, currently features the popular interview series “Backstage ‘Berry” starring Strawberry Fields, as well as WERRRK.com’s acclaimed live coverage of events such as RuPaul’s DragCon, the Austin International Drag Festival, the Into The Draglands competition series and other LGBTQ+ events in New York City and Los Angeles.
The show will be hosted by the “Vintage Vixen” herself, WERRRK.com’s own Strawberry Fields and is set to feature such stars as New York City’s “Showbiz Spitfire” Paige Turner, music and comedy stars Deven Green and Handsome Ned, the current reigning Miss Gay America, Pattaya Hart, tri-state drag icon Pissi Myles, “America’s Best Least-Known Lounge Act” Mack and Poppy, Vancouver drag royalty Jaylene Tyme, comic and writer Shawn Pelofsky, Miami drag star Athena Dion, NYC drag star and singer Cacophony Daniels and many more. (See the complete lineup of performers here!)
“2020 has been brutal year for basically the entire planet and for me personally as well, it was particularly cruel. I decided that we could use WERRRK’s platform to try and cleanse ourselves of all the negativity this year has wrought by doing a little good for the community. Since 2020 was the year that digital drag became not only the norm, but the financial lifeline for many performers, we decided it was the perfect vehicle for our goal. We have selected the Transgender Law Center to be the beneficiary of our first effort for our new WERRRK for Change charitable endeavor. The trans community, which has alway been among the most vulnerable groups out there, has suffered horribly under this outgoing administration. We reached out to friends of the site across the country and got an overwhelming response from performers and artists who wanted to be part of this event.”, said WERRRK.com founder Chiffon Dior.
Hostess Strawberry Fields added, “This show is shaping up to be a very special event and you won’t believe some of the amazing numbers we have in store for you at Winter WerrrrkFest! Hopefully we can raise a nice chunk of change for a worthwhile charity and maybe even lay the groundwork for this to become an annual event.”
The special event will stream live on the WERRRK.com channel at 10pm EST on December 13th and will be available for viewing on demand shortly after the stream end. Donations to Winter WerrrkFest can be made at www.werrrkforchange.org. One contributor, selected at random after the campaign has ended, will receive a WERRRK.com prize package valued at over $100.
