A Review of Mrs. Kasha Davis' "There's Always Time For a Cocktail" 2

Buckle up, because beloved season seven RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Mrs. Kasha Davis has a brand new one woman show, and it’s a rollercoaster ride of pure emotion! In her new show, “There’s Always Time For A Cocktail,” Mrs. Davis takes us on a journey of forgiveness, love, and acceptance.

Mrs. Davis has always been a diamond in the rough. She has proven herself time and time again to be a witty monologist, a campy comedienne, and just plain extraordinarily talented.

Mrs. Davis begins the show by weaving tales of her childhood, from growing up as a Momma’s boy to struggling with being an oldest son who just happens to be fabulous. Ed Popil (Mrs. Davis’ alter ego) grew up in the small city of Scranton, Pennsylvania. Ed realized he was different at a young age and did everything he could to hide this fact. One of the more touching moments of the show is when Davis describes her grandparents’ home, which she could always rely on as a safe space each day after school.

Flash forwarded to the birth of Mrs. Kasha Davis! Davis tells us about finding love both in her personal and professional life. She absolutely radiates on stage while recalling the love for Ed’s newfound family, as well as his newfound way to express himself: DRAG!

Next, Davis guides the audience through the highs and lows of being on a little cable television show called “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” The show is what introduced many in the audience to Mrs. Davis herself. We all know what happened on air, but it’s refreshing to hear what the experience was like from Kasha herself.

“Cocktail” delights in classic songs and anecdotes that can only come the unique and original Mrs. Kasha. The show has its surprising moments and sobering moments that really take you behind the scenes of life of this oh-so-fabulous suburban housewife and the man who has stepped into her shoes. My only grievance is with the abrupt ending, but that’s only because it left me wanting more.

If you’re looking for a good time gal to tell you some feel-good stories, this show is for you!
