My favorite Barbie girl is back with new music and a makeup collab, I say back as if she ever disappeared from the spotlight! Let’s get up to speed with just what’s been happening in the world of Trixie Mattel.

Way back in 2018 I wrote about Trixie’s album One Stone (which now feels a lifetime ago). I discussed how it was Trixie’s world and we’re just living in it. Well since 2018 we’re now in her universe, Trixie has expanded a portfolio to astronomical fame and fortune.

Moving Parts premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in May 2019 the documentary delivered an emotionally raw, funny look into Trixie’s life. Streaming on multiple platforms it was well-received, showing her ambition, success, and for fans, a raw, emotional side we rarely see from our sarcastic queen. (Check out our review here!) After the third album Barbara, 2021 saw the release of Ep Full Coverage Vol. 1 which features Mattel’s covers of various songs including the incredibly gorgeous rendition of Lana Del Rey’s Video Games.

From there we’ve seen nothing but more and more achievements unlocked with the launch of Trixie Cosmetics, podcasting with BFF Katya Zamolodichova for The Bald and the Beautiful, Netflix’s I Like To Watch, her Youtube channel with 1 million subscribers, author of new york best times seller Trixie and Katya’s Guide to Modern Womanhood, as a judge on Queens of the Universe, and upcoming manager of the Trixie Motel…..(phew and breathe). Of course alongside this, Trixie and Katya are back on the road with their tour 2022 sees them up and down the USA, down under, and *I pray* a European/ UK tour. How she finds the time to sit and rest is anyone’s guess?

So now we’re more or less up to speed, back in November 2021 we said hello to the new single Hello, Hello a catchy 60’s bop full of strong vocals and an anthem that makes you want to lay in the sun screeching hello….hellooooo? The accompanying video saw Trixie dance an infectious routine from start to finish, choreographed by none other than the iconic Laganja Estranja!

Trixie has been sprinkling hints for new music the last few weeks, and the moment came when she dropped the cover for the new single This Town (Feat. @shakeygraves ). The front cover is from early childhood and the home video footage is from life in Milwaukee. The music video for This Town gives us a glimpse into Trixie’s younger years, following her musical journey from age 15. For fans, we know how hard Trixie works and her passion for music started from an early age, so seeing this footage is so wholesome. Hard work pays off and it’s showcased throughout the video.

Trixie and Katya’s fans are easily the most well-fed out of the drag fandom, if an upcoming tour wasn’t enough then welcome the TeamTrixie Vs TeamKatya makeup collaboration. Trixie Cosmetics announced a second collab with Katya. The release of the Red Scare collection not only crashed the website but also sold out in less than 10 minutes proving a major success. The new collection which was revealed Monday 21st showcased every Trixya’s fantasy, two Eyeshadow pallets, lip glosses, lipsticks, and my personal favorite team Trixie and Katya T-shirts and gym bag! The collection dropped last Friday so watch the collab reveal below and then get shopping!
