After writing their own verses to the anthem Power, no one did bad enough to go home so this week’s episode kicked off just like last week, with Dawn, Sapphira Cristal, Nymphia Wind, Q, Mih’ya Iman LePaige, Morphine Love Dion, and Plane Jane remain in the competition.
The rest of the queens tried to get it into Plane’s head that she just may have been in the bottom if there was one. As a result, she went off on Dawn’s drag, but I think Dawn had fun with it. Meanwhile, Morphine pretended to cry while getting in drag after coming so close to her first win of the season. “Justice for Morphine Love Dion,” she cried, and I thought it was cute and funny.
Before we got into the meat of the episode, Mih’ya very quietly said, “It was nice knowing you, Nymphia.” Nymphia also replied silently, and Plane said what we were all thinking – we would need subtitles.
For the mini-challenge, the queens participated in a quiz game where they had to vote for which queen they thought fit the question. For most passive-aggressive, Nymphia won, while Morphine secured the title of the queen who would not know what passive-aggressive meant – even voting for herself. It was no surprise that Plane would be the queen they felt they’d have to block online following the show. Fliritiest went to Sapphira, who also voted for herself. Gassiest was given to Dawn, who replied, “Period.” Queen most likely to blame the edit went to Morphine. The queen who would spend the prize money the wisest went to Sapphira, and Plane was crowned the queen who would spend all their prize money on breast plates, The queen who would tip her sisters the most was Sapphira, and Plane was the most delusional. This was fun!
RuPaul then shared that this week’s maxi-challenge would have the queens presenting their own corporate-inspired presentations. They would be working in teams, with Q and Plane covering drag history, Dawn and Mhi’ya talking about drag in the werrrk place, and Sapphira, Nymphia, and Morphine’s topic was “Are you a drag queen? You might be surprised.”
Sapphira took the lead for her group like any good mother would, while Morphine and Nymphia had no idea about seminars. On the other end of the spectrum, Plane did a full presentation for her mom to teach her about drag when she first started doing it. Everyone thought she and Q would kill it.
The queens shared their ideas with Michelle Visage and Joel Kim Booster. Some impressed them, while others did not. Morphine had to rework some jokes after failing to make them laugh.
As the queens were getting ready to hit the main stage for the 80s-themed runway, Q shared that she has been HIV+ for almost two years now. She shared how she has been treated differently in health care, but that having LGBTQ+ healthcare providers. Plane then made an important announcement: gay people, stop doing drag and start going to medical school.
It was drag awareness month and the queens had to present their seminars to Ru, Michelle, the hilarious Ross Mathews, and Joel! Q and Plane were hilarious. Not only were they funny, but they didn’t miss a beat. Their delivery was perfect. Dawn did great, but her chemistry with Mhi’ya, paired with Mih’ya’s fumbles in the challenge, tied them both down. Then came Sapphira, Morphine, and Nymphia. Sapphira was great, but she began to trip over her words. Her jokes were great, though, and she recovered quickly. Nymphia did well, but Morphine struggled a bit.
On the runway, the category was DragCon in the 80s, Michelle’s dream. Dawn’s look was fun and I loved how Q’s paid tribute to Keith Haring. Sapphira was so perfectly 80s! It was great.
While they performed as teams, they would be judged as individuals. In the end, Sapphira won the challenge, while Nymphia, Plane, Q, and Dawn were safe. Morphine and Mhi’ya were the bottom two.
The pair faced off to Dim All The Lights by Donna Summer. Mhi’ya threw the cape from her dress onto Morphine while she was in a backbend. So, Morphine threw her fake boobs at her. Morphine absolutely killed it. Holding her split for that long? Crazy!
As much as we loved Mhi’ya, her time came to a close, and Morphine stayed. What were your thoughts? Let us know in the comments below!
